So I realized today how much I need to get out more; I haven't been out at the barn all week because of school being so hectic and my schedule just being haywire but now I'm out for winter break and I've just been thinking about how I should try and start getting in better shape for the new competition season next year. I am not out of shape, I'm at a healthy weight, and I weight train twice a week, I've just found my cardio to be very lacking. The problem with me and running is that my muscles can keep up, my lungs and heart just can't. I've decided to start slow so I don't get burned out so I'm planning on beginning to jog tomorrow (I went on a hour long walk with my dogs today) and probably am going to run about half a mile to a mile. I just need to stay motivated because that's my main problem right now. So, if anyone reads this, any suggestions?
As far as riding, my life has been so crazy recently I haven't gotten out to the barn as much as I had hoped and it always seems to rain on my free days. I'm probably going to head out tonight but it's still pretty damp outside and I don't want my horse (Jerry) to slip. I'm considering just going out and giving him some love and seeing if it's dry tomorrow. I am bumping up a level after a few schooling shows and, although I am at a low level, it's going to take a lot of work and dedication. Nothing worth having is ever easy though. Any other eventers here? If so, what level do you compete at and leave some info about your horse, I'd love to hear about other people's riding :) Well I'm off, hope everyone is having a good winter day.
